The artist
Nova Pon is a Canadian composer based in Calgary whose work ranges from orchestral, chamber, wind-band, and choral music to collaborations with film and dance. Her music has been performed on four continents and recorded for Centrediscs, while her scores have also been published by Frederick Harris. Pon studied composition at the University of Calgary and completed graduate degrees at the University of British Columbia, including a DMA in 2023. Her recording Symphonies of Mother and Child was released by Redshift Records, and she has been an Associate Composer of the Canadian Music Centre since 2010. A 2025 Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Classical Composer of the Year documents her continuing professional activity.
