About

The artist

Qimutjuit is an Inuktitut-language band from Inukjuak in Nunavik, Quebec. Current 2025 reporting by Nunatsiaq News identifies the lineup as singer and guitarist Charlie Iqaluk, drummer Eric Atagotaaluk, keyboardist Pauloosie Kasudluak, and bassist Jobie Oweetaluktuk. The same reporting says the four musicians have played together for about 35 years and built an audience across Inuit Nunangat. Their current public identity therefore remains rooted in Inukjuak, Quebec, Canada. Qimutjuit's music joins electric guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and Inuktitut songwriting in a dance-oriented rock format. The group returned to recording through a collaboration involving Avataq Cultural Institute, producer Simon Walls, and Atty Records. The exact Spotify artist 7qanUa05Nku407zIXq54yT contains one principal Canadian release container: the nine-track self-titled album Qimutjuit, released December 20, 2024. Apple Music and the artist-controlled SoundCloud page independently present the same nine songs, including Pa pa pa, Sugavilli, Inugama, Taitsumani, Uvangautsunga, Kuapavut, Jiisusivut, Kingullipami, and the title track. This exact provider total does not absorb older recordings that are documented outside the current Spotify response. In November 2025, the Association québécoise de l'industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo officially named Qimutjuit the Indigenous Languages Album of the Year. Nunatsiaq News independently reported the win and identified the recording as the band's second album. Those current sources establish both activity and the award. MusicList found no current artist-controlled professional inquiry route and records contact as explicitly none rather than exposing personal details. Spotify media is displayed live with provider attribution and a monogram fallback.
