The artist
Sam Wilson is a Halifax-based guitarist, bandleader and composer working across modern jazz, improvisation, folk and contemporary chamber music. Her instrumental catalogue includes the solo Into A Heart recordings, Groundless Apprehensions and the trio album Wintertides, while her Jackson/Wilson Duo work explores an original conversation between guitar and trombone. Wilson studied jazz at St. Francis Xavier University, has performed with Open Waters and Halifax Jazz, and remains active in Nova Scotia's improvised-music community. Wintertides received the 2025 Music Nova Scotia Jazz Recording of the Year award.
