The artist

The Mariachi Ghost is an internationally touring Winnipeg ensemble founded as an art project among friends in 2009. The current official profile describes a large-format band led by Jorge Requena with Rafael Reyes, Alexandra Garrido, Gabriel Fields, Adam Kroeker, Ian Mikita, Bruce Berven, and Tim Friesen. Their sound joins traditional Mexican song and instruments with haunting synths, explosive guitars, rich harmonies, and spectral dance. The self-titled debut won a Western Canadian Music Award for World Music Album, while the group has performed at Winnipeg Folk Festival, Interstellar Rodeo, SXSW, Mundial Montreal, BreakOut West, and the Pan-American Games. Current work includes the Rencor Vivo project and new live video releases.
