The artist
The Mbira Renaissance Band is an Edmonton, Alberta ensemble centred on the Zimbabwean mbira. The group develops traditional repertoire and original compositions through cyclical arrangements, polyrhythm, layered vocals and improvisation, while drawing from reggae, jazz and rock. After earlier singles and the Famba EP, the band released its full-length album Roto in 2026 and continued an active Canadian festival schedule.
