Creative Industries Funding: Music — Sector Development Grants

Recurring multi-intake program; online applications are considered several times per year and may be deferred. The August 1, 2026 cutoff is the current listed intake date for October–December projects.

Recurring online intakes align with project start dates: February 1, May 1, August 1, and November 15 for the project windows listed by the City.

Eligible applicants
Legal not-for-profit or charitable organizations, urban off-reserve Indigenous-led organizations, Association of Community Centres community centres, for-profit businesses, festivals, educational organizations, and grassroots or DIY collectives that are located in Toronto or deliver the funded project/services to Toronto-based entities or individuals; applicants must not be indebted to the City or in default.
Funding amount or limit
The City describes most music funding as below $5,000; higher amounts may be considered for an ongoing or high-impact sector-development initiative. No fixed stream cap is published.

Eligible activities

  • Projects, services, or initiatives that build capacity and create opportunities for creative entrepreneurs, businesses, and the music sector, including skills/training, new business or innovation models, cross-sector research, business growth, out-of-market opportunities, equity-deserving community support, partnership generation, knowledge-building, and business skills. Individual career projects, record production, direct tour support, and ongoing operating costs are excluded.
