Arthur Newspaper is Trent University and Peterborough-Nogojiwanong's independent student and community press, with current music criticism and a free, tightly defined editorial pitch route.

Arthur Newspaper is Trent University and Peterborough-Nogojiwanong's independent student and community press. Established in 1966, it is a student-run, community-driven, editorially independent not-for-profit that publishes online year-round and distributes 2,000 free print copies monthly from September through April across Trent's Peterborough campuses and local businesses. Its coverage spans campus and local news, culture, arts, opinion, reviews, podcasts and public-interest issues. Current music activity is inside the 180-day window: a May 26, 2026 review examined Otay:onii's album Love Is In The Shit and situated it within industrial and experimental music. Arthur describes itself as a bridge between the city and university and a low-barrier place for new and aspiring writers. Its official pitch guidance always accepts community submissions from Trent students and Peterborough residents, with other contributors considered case by case. Pitches should be two to four paragraphs and no more than 500 words, state an angle and thesis, explain why the story and writer fit, and identify sources and interviewees; finished drafts should be DOCX files. The outlet charges no submission fee and says publication remains editorially reviewed. It expressly rejects uncritical praise, self-promotion, promotional friend coverage, poorly rewritten press releases, and AI-generated editorial work. This is a direct editorial-contribution route, not an artist PR or guaranteed music-coverage service.
