Quartier Libre

Quartier Libre is the Université de Montréal's independent French-language student media outlet, publishing Quebec music coverage across print, web, video, radio, podcast and newsletter formats.

Quartier Libre is the independent student media outlet of the Université de Montréal, founded in September 1993 and funded by student fees while remaining independent of university bodies. It publishes a print magazine, a daily website, a weekly newsletter, video reporting and a weekly CISM radio program available as a podcast. Its music section covers Quebec releases, emerging artists and Montréal culture; in May 2026 it published Quebec-album recommendations and interviewed rapper Calamine about her new album and queer feminist work. Contributions and story ideas are limited to Université de Montréal students under conflict-of-interest and editorial rules, so the public contact form is not an artist music-submission route.
