The Community Edition is Waterloo Region’s independent monthly newspaper, published by the independent, non-profit WLU Student Publications group. It publishes in print and online for the wider regional community, with news, columns, culture, arts, opinion and community events. Its recurring Localist column reviews new music from Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and surrounding communities: the July 2, 2026 roundup evaluates five local singles and EPs across city pop, electronic, harsh noise, hyperpop, hip-hop, rap, alternative and rock. A July 7, 2026 feature also reports on Waterloo’s annual Drone Day through its experimental musicians, instruments, performances, collaborative sound and community. The current July 2026 issue and homepage establish continuing operation. Its Connect page provides general editorial contact and recruits volunteer writers, editors, photographers, designers and production contributors, but it does not explicitly invite artists or organizations to pitch music releases. That generic channel is therefore not represented as a current music-submission service.
