The Quill is Brandon University's student-run biweekly newspaper in Brandon, with current original pop and music-industry reporting, print and online editions, article-alert emails, and a direct no-fee content-submission route.
The Quill is Brandon University's student newspaper in Brandon. Its official About page says it was first published in 1910, is the second-oldest student newspaper in Western Canada, has operated as an autonomous corporate entity since 2005 and is entirely produced by students. The page describes a biweekly print cycle, an online edition launched in 2006 and a mandate serving both the university and the broader Brandon population through community news, sports and entertainment. The current site carried general reporting through April 1, 2026. A March 18 feature inside the 180-day activity window provides original music editorial about KATSEYE, HYBE and Geffen, K-pop training, pop-group fandom, racism and label treatment, artist contracts, public relations and marketing narratives in the music industry. A January 14 interview, outside the current activity window and not used for freshness credit, separately examines a Brandon University School of Music alumnus's jazz album, composition, recording and production process. The current Read Online page lists 12 issues from the 2025-26 academic year through April 1, 2026, supporting active print publication. The homepage offers a mailing list that sends an email notification whenever a new article appears. MusicList represents that exact function as article alerts, not as an independently evidenced editorial newsletter, podcast or video program. The official Contact Us page explicitly directs general inquiries and content submissions to the Editor-in-Chief role inbox. No fee, eligibility rule or coverage guarantee is stated, so MusicList presents it as a direct free general editorial route, not as a music-desk, artist-release or guaranteed-coverage service. The Assistant Editor-in-Chief inbox, a separate printing-business inbox, phone and fax numbers, street-address details, named staff, mailing-list fields and advertising workflow are excluded.
