Provenance & Context

The Story of the Release

Twin Solitude is the breakthrough third studio album by Montreal singer-songwriter Leif Vollebekk, released on Secret City Records. Named with a nod to Hugh MacLennan's novel Two Solitudes, the record balances spontaneous live-off-the-floor piano ballads with roaming, reflective folk arrangements. Recorded largely in single takes at Montreal's Breakglass Studios, the album earned a shortlist nomination for the Polaris Music Prize and a JUNO Award nomination for Adult Alternative Album of the Year.
