About

The artist

Anachnid is a Montréal-based Oji-Cree multidisciplinary artist whose music connects contemporary electronic production with Indigenous story, spirituality, and urban experience. Her performing name refers to the spider as a totem figure and to the many personalities she brings to her creative work. After early singles including Windigo, La Lune, and Sky Woman, she released Dreamweaver in 2020 through Musique Nomade. The album moves through electro-pop, trap, indie, soul, hip-hop, and ancestral sound textures, and was longlisted for the Polaris Music Prize. Anachnid received the SOCAN Foundation's first Indigenous Songwriter Award in 2019 and won the Félix for Indigenous Artist of the Year in 2021. Freak of Nature expanded her work into instrumental experimental, indie-rock, cyberpunk, and sacred-music territory in 2023 and later won a GAMIQ electronic release award. The single Happy Birthday arrived in 2026. Her official Bandcamp, current Montréal reporting, Musique Nomade roster, and exact Spotify and Apple Music profiles all resolve the same active artist and location.
