About

The artist

formed in saskatoon, sk in 2023. blind commentary initially had begun as a band of shoegaze influences, comprising of sam thomson (he/him), liam jones (he/him), lia swenson (they/them), and bailey quinney (he/him). following early singles including 'frail' (2023), 'redmist' (2024), the band released their debut EP 'eyes open and staring' in june 2024. as a result of them experimenting with their compliation of hard-rock, shoegaze, and screamo-- they've recognized their sound as to a specific focus: prairie emo. with their influences including: title fight, superheaven, basement, narrow head, and nothing. their recent singles include: trapped in the walls (2026), bury your horses. (2026); and they've set november 2026 to be the release of their debut album: greatsword. blending elements of math rock, midwest emo, screamo, and punk, greatsword explores growing up in the prairies, relationships, and the uneasy anticipation of change (knowing that something is shifting, while not yet knowing what that change will look like). the release arrives during a period of continued growth for blind commentary. the band has previously performed at nxne 2025, sled island 2025, purple city 2025 and ness creek 2026, and will travel to montréal in november for an official showcase at m for montréal, taking place november 18–21, 2026.
