About

The artist

Chris McKhool is a Burlington, Ontario violinist, singer, songwriter, producer, and educator whose work connects family music with folk and global traditions. His solo catalogue began with Earth, Seas & Air in 1996 and developed through the multicultural Celebrate! Holidays of the Global Village and the interactive Fiddlefire! Fiddlefire! received the 2009 Canadian Folk Music Award for Children's Album of the Year and a JUNO Award nomination. McKhool returned to family recording with Little Leaf in 2025, an 11-song environmental album made with members of Sultans of String and guests including Duke Redbird, Rebecca Campbell, Chris Whiteley, and Ken Whiteley. The album earned a 2026 JUNO nomination for Children's Album of the Year. McKhool also leads and produces Sultans of String, pairing his violin and composition with Kevin Laliberté's guitar in a long-running ensemble that blends folk, jazz, flamenco, and other global traditions. His current solo calendar includes Ontario and Western Canadian performances through 2026. The City of Burlington awarded him a Key to the City in 2025 for his contribution to music and community, following his 2024 induction into the Burlington Performing Arts Centre Hall of Fame.
