About

The artist

City and Colour is the solo recording and performance project of Toronto singer, songwriter, and guitarist Dallas Green. Green began the project in 2005 while also playing in Alexisonfire, using its name as a wordplay on Dallas and Green. The debut album Sometimes introduced a restrained acoustic side of his writing and received the 2007 JUNO Award for Alternative Album of the Year. Bring Me Your Love expanded the project with folk and full-band textures, while Little Hell, The Hurry and the Harm, If I Should Go Before You, and A Pill for Loneliness moved between sparse songs, atmospheric arrangements, and guitar-driven alternative rock. The Love Still Held Me Near, released through Still Records and Dine Alone Records in 2023, became the project's seventh studio album. Green has also maintained City and Colour as a flexible live ensemble, working repeatedly with multi-instrumentalist Matt Kelly and other Canadian musicians. His songwriting received JUNO Awards in 2009 and 2012, and his broader work in Canadian music received the SOCAN National Achievement Award in 2022. The project remains active: Sometimes Lullaby revisited the debut material in 2025, and the 2026 single AHEAD BY A CENTURY paired City and Colour with producer Boi-1da. A November 2024 interview conducted from Green's Toronto residence provides current location evidence, while the official artist site and label catalogue document ongoing releases and performances.
