The artist

Efrim Manuel Menuck is a Montréal-based experimental musician, composer, producer, and recording engineer. He is a founding member of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and established Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra in 1999, making him a central figure in Montréal's independent post-rock community. Menuck is also a co-owner and engineer at the Hotel2Tango recording studio. His solo catalog began with Plays High Gospel in 2011, a record written, performed, and recorded at Hotel2Tango. Pissing Stars followed in 2018, combining modular electronics, guitar, piano, voice, and tape-oriented production. In 2019 he and Kevin Doria released are SING SINCK, SING as a duo, and the 2023 live recording At House Unamerican further documented that collaboration. Menuck's current projects also include ALL HANDS_MAKE LIGHT with Ariel Engle and WE ARE WINTER'S BLUE AND RADIANT CHILDREN with Mat Ball, Patch One, and Jonathan Downs. These projects extend his work through ambient, drone, noise, electronic, and art-rock forms while retaining the political and communal concerns associated with his broader catalog.
