The artist

Emilie-Claire Barlow is a Québec City-based vocalist, arranger, producer, and bandleader. Raised in a Toronto musical family, she developed as a singer and multi-instrumentalist before releasing Sings in 1998 through her own Empress Music Group. Her catalog combines vocal jazz with pop, bossa nova, orchestral writing, holiday music, and repertoire in English, French, and Portuguese. Albums including Happy Feet, Like a Lover, Winter Wonderland, The Very Thought of You, Haven't We Met?, and The Beat Goes On established her independent recording practice. Seule ce soir, an all-French project, received a JUNO Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year, and Clear Day later earned a second JUNO in the same field. Barlow has also received a Félix and performed internationally with jazz ensembles and orchestras. Spark Bird arrived in 2023, followed by Neige in December 2025 and La plus belle saison in February 2026. Recorded in Montréal and co-produced with François Richard, La plus belle saison reinterprets Quebec songs through jazz, samba, and orchestral pop arrangements.
