About

The artist

FONTINE is the solo project of Winnipeg-based singer-songwriter Fontine Beavis. Raised in Brandon and connected to Manitoba's collaborative music community, she spent years performing with Boy Golden's Church of Better Daze before introducing her own recorded work. The six-song Yarrow Lover EP arrived in February 2023 after sessions with co-producer Kris Ulrich and mixer Boy Golden. Its writing connects relationships and recovery with imagery drawn from the natural world and the Prairies. That debut period also included Homemaker, which reached the top of the Indigenous Music Countdown. FONTINE expanded the project on Good Buddy, a ten-song album released by Birthday Cake Records in October 2025. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Liam Duncan, the record brings louder guitars and power-pop energy into her established folk-pop writing. The exact Spotify identity contains four distinct primary album and single containers from February 2023 through October 2025: Good Buddy, Yarrow Lover, Home Right Here, and the Noah Derksen collaboration Walking Home. Current Manitoba Music records identify Winnipeg as her professional base and list 2026 Winnipeg Folk Festival performances, confirming that the project remains active in Manitoba. FONTINE received the Western Canadian Music Award for Indigenous Artist of the Year in 2024. English and French copy and translation provenance were reviewed together, Spotify media is rendered with provider attribution, professional inquiries are directed to her current Manitoba Music profile, and no direct email address is republished.
