About

The artist

Francis Baptiste is a Syilx singer-songwriter from the Osoyoos Indian Band who has made East Vancouver his home for two decades. His work combines folk rock and indie rock with personal storytelling, cultural reclamation, and English and Nsyilxcən lyrics. Baptiste's debut album, Sneqsilx (Family), arrived in April 2022 after support from the First Peoples' Cultural Council helped him develop a ten-song project using both languages. The 2024 follow-up Sənk̓lip, the Trickster draws on Syilx oral tradition while addressing fatherhood, intergenerational trauma, and recovery. Lived Experience in East Vancouver, released in October 2025, turns toward the people, pressures, and resilience of the neighbourhood where he lives and works. His official electronic press kit documents an active performance schedule through 2026 and his community work with the DUDES Club in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. Vancouver Opera presented him in Songs of Healing and Home in December 2025, and the City of Burnaby lists him among the performers at its 2025 Blues and Roots Festival. The exact Spotify identity contains 13 distinct primary release containers from January 2020 through October 2025: three albums and ten singles. The most recent album is Lived Experience in East Vancouver. A current First Peoples' Cultural Council public registry also identifies Baptiste with the Osoyoos Indian Band and documents support for an eight-song indie-rock album.
