About

The artist

FRIGS are a Toronto post-punk band consisting of vocalist Bria Salmena, guitarist Duncan Jennings, bassist Lucas Savatti, and drummer Kris Bowering. Salmena and Jennings began working together while studying in Montreal before moving to Toronto, where the group first performed as Dirty Frigs. Their early recordings drew on grunge, noise rock, horror imagery, and swampy rock textures. After shortening the name to FRIGS, they released the Slush EP through Arts & Crafts in 2016, followed by the two-track Chest / Trashyard single. Their debut album, Basic Behaviour, arrived in February 2018 and was longlisted for the 2018 Polaris Music Prize. The record moves between repetition, psychedelic pressure, abrasive guitars, and the contrast between Salmena's growl and quieter delivery. Members later worked in other projects, including Orville Peck's touring band and Salmena's solo recordings. The group is active again in the exact catalog: its artist-controlled Bandcamp currently identifies FRIGS as a post-punk band loosely based out of Toronto and lists the four-member lineup, while Music As Disaster appeared in June 2026. The exact Spotify identity contains nine distinct primary album and single containers from May 2016 through June 2026. The normalized summary counts one album, two EPs, and six singles: Spotify classifies the four-track Music As Disaster and Slush containers as singles, while the artist-controlled catalog explicitly presents Slush as an EP and the multi-track 2026 release is normalized consistently. Basic Behaviour remains the sole album. English and French copy and translation provenance were reviewed together, Spotify media is rendered with provider attribution, professional inquiries are directed to the artist-controlled Bandcamp, and no direct contact details are republished.
