About
The artist
Front Line Assembly are a Vancouver electro-industrial group founded by Bill Leeb in 1986 after his departure from Skinny Puppy. Early cassette recordings led to The Initial Command, State of Mind, Corrosion, and Disorder, establishing a dark electronic vocabulary that soon incorporated electronic body music and harder dance rhythms. Michael Balch was an early collaborator, followed by Rhys Fulber, whose long-running partnership with Leeb shaped records including Caustic Grip and Tactical Neural Implant. The latter remains a defining work in electro-industrial music. Millennium brought metallic guitar and aggressive sampling into the group's palette in 1994, while later releases moved through techno, cinematic electronics, industrial rock, and game soundtracks. AirMech and WarMech grew from video-game score work; Mechanical Soul returned in 2021 with collaborators including Jean-Luc De Meyer and Dino Cazares. The 2025 album Mechviruses reworks WarMech material through remixes by artists including ULTRA SUNN, Ayria, Seeming, MVTANT, Encephalon, and Bootblacks. Metropolis Records currently describes Front Line Assembly as the primary focus of Vancouver-based musician Bill Leeb, and its current tour listing documents 2026 dates. Apple Music independently identifies the group with Vancouver, British Columbia and lists current concerts. The exact Spotify identity contains 60 distinct primary album and single containers from July 1986 through February 2025: 31 album-classified releases and 29 singles.
