The artist

Ida Nilsen has led Great Aunt Ida in changing solo and ensemble formats since 2003. Rooted in piano-led songwriting, the project draws on folk, indie pop, chamber textures, and Vancouver's experimental music community. Its catalog includes four albums and collaborative work with musicians from jazz, roots, classical, and improvised music. After returning from architecture studies, Nilsen resumed the project with new material and released Out of Your Light in March 2026 before touring Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia.
