The artist

Vancouver saxophonist Jon Bentley has worked professionally since 1995 as a leader and sideman across Canadian and international jazz settings. A tenor and soprano player, he has performed or recorded with Kenny Wheeler, Seamus Blake, Dave Douglas, Brad Turner, Peggy Lee Band, Metalwood, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and many other artists and ensembles. His leader recordings include Motions and the 2025 quartet album Go Ahead!, a set built around soulful, bluesy, funky, straight-ahead, and swinging jazz. The Jon Bentley Quartet on that recording features Chris Gestrin on organ, Tristan Paxton on guitar, and Joe Poole on drums. Bentley is a two-time JUNO nominee and a four-time Western Canadian Music Award nominee, including a 2025 Jazz Artist of the Year nomination for Go Ahead!, and his official calendar documents an active 2026 performance schedule.
