About
The artist
Keith Kouna is the solo name of Quebec City singer-songwriter Sylvain Côté, a francophone rock artist whose work combines chanson, alternative rock, punk energy, theatrical delivery, and dense wordplay. His public solo discography begins with Les années monsieur in 2008, following his earlier work as the frontman of the Quebec City punk band Les Goules. Du plaisir et des bombes followed in 2012 with songs including Batiscan, Tic Tac, Napalm, and Pas de panique. Batiscan won the French-language SOCAN Songwriting Prize in 2013. Kouna then built Le Voyage d'hiver around French rewritings of the poems behind Franz Schubert's Winterreise. The twenty-four-track project paired his voice and writing with production by René Lussier and arrangements led by Lussier and pianist Vincent Gagnon. Bonsoir Shérif returned him to a sharper rock format in 2017. The three-song La Duchesse arrived in 2021 and is treated as an EP by the official artist site even though Spotify groups it with singles. Métastases followed in March 2023 as his fifth solo album and first full-length in six years. Its credits name Kouna for the lyrics, most of the music, voice, guitar, and part of the ensemble arrangements, with Alexandre Martel responsible for record production. The album received a 2023 GAMIQ nomination for Rock Album of the Year. Marina arrived in May 2024 and later received 2024 GAMIQ nominations in the single and music-video fields. Kouna's exact Spotify identity currently contains thirteen primary album and single containers from 2008 through May 2024: five albums, one three-track EP normalized from Spotify's single classification, and seven singles. His wider career also includes continued work with Les Goules, the children's project Kid Kouna, and touring in Canada and francophone Europe. The artist-controlled Bandcamp identifies Quebec City as his base, while the official 2026 Quebec City tourism guide includes him in its current local music feature. An Apple Music concert record and a City of Quebec event notice document his June 2026 appearance at Montcalm en musique, confirming current activity. Duprince remains his current label, and current provincial industry records connect his management and Canadian booking to Ambiances Ambiguës. Public inquiries route through the official Keith Kouna contact page, direct contact details are not republished, and Spotify media is displayed remotely with provider attribution and a monogram fallback.
