About
The artist
Marker Starling is the long-running musical vehicle of Toronto singer, songwriter, and keyboardist Chris A. Cummings (formerly recording under the moniker Mantler). Renowned as a musician's musician in the Canadian and international underground, Cummings crafts exquisite, slow-burning sophisti-pop characterized by warm Wurlitzer electric piano chord voicings, vintage rhythm boxes, and intimate, bittersweet vocal melodies. His catalog spanning Rosy Maze, I'm Willing, Anchors and Ampersands, and the Sean O'Hagan-produced High January represents one of Canada's most consistent achievements in art-pop songwriting.
