The artist

Missy D is a bilingual hip-hop artist based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Working in French and English, she describes her sound as Rap & Soul, drawing together direct emceeing, melodic soul influences, and performances with either a live band or DJ. Her catalog began with the 2016 album When Music Hits You Feel No Pain and continued through the Yes Mama EP, the album Case Départ, and the 2025 EP La Poursuite. Singles including Matin Midi Soir, J'avance, and Une Chance extend that bilingual body of work. Missy D is also a member of the Vancouver collective Laydy Jams and has appeared at SXSW, Juno Fest, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, and Rifflandia. In 2024, the Western Canadian Music Awards named her Francophone Artist of the Year. She remains active with current releases, performances, and artist-controlled updates.
