ALPHA
Album-Level Production & Liner Credits
The Story of the Release
ALPHA is the self-released debut studio album by Toronto singer, songwriter, and producer Charlotte Day Wilson, released through her own Stone Woman Music imprint. Recorded primarily in Toronto, the album bridges minimalist soul, gospel chord progressions, and modern R&B production. Wilson maintained complete executive and sonic control, self-producing much of the record alongside close Toronto collaborators including BADBADNOTGOOD, River Tiber, Matthew Burnett, and Jordon Manswell.
Canadian Press & Critical Reception
"Wilson's music has always possessed an arresting, monastic stillness... On ALPHA, she turns that intimacy into widescreen grandeur while preserving complete creative autonomy."
"A masterclass in modern Canadian independent soul. Charlotte Day Wilson's debut LP is a triumph of patience, exacting musicianship, and community collaboration."
"The Toronto singer-producer's debut album is a rich, unhurried exploration of intimacy, queerness, and self-possession."
