Provenance & Context

The Story of the Release

Powder Blue is the second full-length album by Winnipeg soul-pop powerhouse Begonia (Alexa Dirks), released through Birthday Cake Records. Nominated for the Polaris Music Prize and Juno Alternative Album of the Year, the record explores emotional vulnerability, religious residue, sexuality, and self-acceptance with soaring vocals, rich horn sections, and vintage-tinged production co-helmed by Royal Canoe's Matt Peters and Matt Schellenberg.
