About
The artist
Irene Torres is a Peruvian-Canadian vocalist, songwriter, and pianist based in Toronto. Born in Lima, Peru, and active in the Canadian music scene for over a decade, Torres is celebrated for her powerful vocal delivery and cross-cultural artistry spanning soul, blues, Afro-Cuban traditions, and Latin jazz. She gained prominence fronting the acclaimed ensemble Irene Torres & The Sugar Devils, as well as collaborating with projects like The Battle of Santiago, Santerias, and Sol Azul. As a solo artist, her debut album Travesía highlights her Peruvian heritage through original songwriting and evocative storytelling on tracks such as Fuego, Mirada, and Sigue Amaneciendo. In 2026, Torres was prominently featured on lead vocals and keyboards across Eric St-Laurent's concept record Science-Fiction Cumbia Volume 1: Arizona on tracks including Jean Gendron, Arizona, and Idilio. She is represented by UNFIT Management in Toronto.
