About
The artist
Based in Dartmouth and Halifax, Nova Scotia, Joel Plaskett is one of Canada's most cherished songwriters, performers, and indie-rock statesmen. Emerging in the 1990s as the frontman of influential Halifax indie trailblazers Thrush Hermit, Plaskett embarked on a prolific solo career and launched his hard-driving trio The Joel Plaskett Emergency. A three-time JUNO Award winner—taking Adult Alternative Album of the Year in 2010 for his ambitious triple album Three—Plaskett has penned enduring Canadian standards such as Nowhere With You, Fashionable People, and Through & Through & Through. In addition to his own recordings, his Fang Studios in Dartmouth has nurtured decades of Canadian musical talent.
